We are delighted to announce Mr David and Mrs Hannah Lewis MBE as our Honorary Vice Presidents. Their role will be to continue to encourage, support, and promote our work to translate leukaemia research into new treatments as quickly as possible, so patients can live better, longer lives.
David and Hannah's story
Both David and Hannah have supported Leuka for more than 20 years following the untimely death of their daughter Catherine from leukaemia in 1991. Catherine was a patient of our founding chair, the late Professor John Goldman. It was with the help from the Lord Mayor of London’s capital appeal - chaired by Hannah Lewis - that Leuka funded the Hammersmith Hospital's £10 million Catherine Lewis Centre, a flagship facility for leukaemia research and treatment that opened in 2002.
The role of Honorary Vice President recognises distinguished highly dedicated individuals with a long history of working with Leuka. Both David and Hannah have made a positive difference to our work over the past 20 years. David Lewis, was a trustee of Leuka for over 20 years until 2018 and Hannah a remains stalwart member of Leuka’s Fundraising Committee.
